Associate of Applied Science — Electronics Technology
Cochise College, Sierra Vista, Arizona
The AAS in Electronics Technology provided the foundational electrical and electronics engineering knowledge that underpins Clarke’s later work in IT infrastructure and systems integration. From circuit theory and signal processing to hands-on systems maintenance — this degree represents the beginning of Clarke’s formal technical education.
The path from electronics fundamentals to enterprise cloud architecture started here.
Military Context
Cochise College’s Sierra Vista campus is co-located with Fort Huachuca — a major US Army intelligence installation and home of the Army Intelligence Center.
Clarke’s 33W (Military Intelligence Systems Maintainer & Integrator) MOS training at Cochise College carried dual credit — counting toward both the MOS qualification and the technical core requirements of the AAS in Electronics Technology. This integration between the Army’s MOS program and Cochise College’s curriculum is a deliberate feature of the Fort Huachuca partnership.
The general education requirements were subsequently fulfilled through Clarke’s BS in Information Technology and MBA at Western Governors University — completing the degree requirements and allowing Cochise College to confer the AAS in December 2013. A positive and fun surprise of returning to Sierra Vista mid-career: a credential loop that had been open since 2005 quietly closed.
